Come on over to funfinderclub.com and post some questions -- there are helpful folks who will be glad to help. I had a Jeep Commander with a v8 - pulled it with that, however, i have since sold that vehicle and will now pull with my 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan with a V6 and 2500# tow hitch... what do you think?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02480666833761607826noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23365880.post-50090792801996923122015-01-12T17:22:57.740-08:002015-01-12T17:22:57.740-08:00Hi Dan, I love the pictures and the story! But mpg is just about the same as in the Pathfinder -- it all depends on the wind and my speed. With the wind behind me, I sometimes get 13 mpg. In a bad headwind, it can drop to 9 mpg. Usually, it is right around 11. And if I go 58 instead of 60, the mileage is a little better, but the trip takes longer.Dan Schechterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04566890655461158405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23365880.post-55102464400598076812014-12-12T13:32:15.951-08:002014-12-12T13:32:15.951-08:00Hey Dan! FF's and I have a Tacoma pretty much just like yours.

I saw in your older posts that you mentioned your mpg in your other TV but didn't find any of that info on how your Tacoma tows the funfinder.

Would you mind elaborating on how many miles to the gallon you get when towing, how easy or difficult is it towing with the Tacoma? Things like that.

Thanks again for all the great stuff and inspiration!Half Circle Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00855492960409584931noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23365880.post-20424838096853119602014-12-09T11:50:00.964-08:002014-12-09T11:50:00.964-08:00Jacklyn, I'd love to get in touch, but I can&#...Jacklyn, I'd love to get in touch, but I can't post my email on this blog, due to spammers and hackers. Here is an idea -- join rv.net, which is easy (and a great resource, too). Once you create a profile, send me a private message through their system. My user id is profdant139 -- that is ok to post on a blog because the rv.net system screens out spam. We can make contact that way -- I would be delighted to be of help!Dan Schechterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04566890655461158405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23365880.post-17901860244513581732014-12-08T12:57:42.241-08:002014-12-08T12:57:42.241-08:00Hi Dan! My husband and I are getting ready to embark on an extended road trip through the western US next spring, and it looks like we'll be buying a 14' Fun Finder very soon. In doing research on the trailer, I found your blog, and you and your wife seem to have the exact kinds of adventures we would like to have! I've been trying to gather information on the campsites you've written about so I can have them in my arsenal, but I was wondering if it would be possible to email you to ask you a few questions specific to the Fun Finder and your experiences with it. I'm also a photographer and have admired your photos! We live in Los Angeles so we're close by. Seems we have a lot in common so I thought I'd reach out. Thanks for all the information here, it's been fun and inspiring to see. Happy trails!Jaclynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08890967390749595717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23365880.post-71752113892427443872014-12-07T11:47:19.167-08:002014-12-07T11:47:19.167-08:00Amazing stuff, Dan. Wish we had a 4 x 4.
We'd sold our 2002 V8 Mercury Mountaineer. Really loved that car but it was time as more things needed to be done on it.
We go out every autumn for about 3 months. this year got a later start & are also running into some cold weather in ATLANTA. I think it's over now & got up to 70 last couple of days. Night time still pretty cold....YOU had cold. Really cold.
I will try your suggestions for the stary shots. We don't have an infinity icon on our Nikon lenses. ( some of my old film Nikon lenses do ....not with us this time but we'll be sure to being them next time. ) As mentioned before we really like your blog. It's amazing you find time. I'm over a year behind on our Canadian Maritime trip blog & need to get started again. You guys are an inspiration.
Trishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00278270720656515490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23365880.post-16895045506974717442014-11-30T12:31:32.777-08:002014-11-30T12:31:32.777-08:00Trish, the exposures are usually around 20 seconds...Trish, the exposures are usually around 20 seconds -- never more than 30, and even that can result in some blurring of the stars. The ISO is either 1600 or 3200 -- 3200 can result in some "noise" but gives better light sensitivity. And I usually shoot in both RAW and jpeg, with a tungsten white balance. No cable, but a tripod is essential. It all sounds very intimidating -- but it just takes patience and practice before it becomes second nature. Oh, and use manual focus, and spin the ring to infinity. And use the widest possible f stop. I usually go with the zoom at 18 mm, not 55. The f stop is 3.5.

And Neil and Yoly, we did not want to use our mini heater because there is some fan noise. Silence is more important than warmth, up to a point. We may be at that point, however! We have a FF214WSD and get just a little chuckle at how your trailer looks just like ours cut straight through the middle.

Since you had electric hook up at Kodachrome I'm curious why you didn't just use a little infra-red space heater to take the chill off those 23 degree mornings ? They run very quietly compared to the furnace.

In any case, keep up the great work. What F stop etc. We are very into taking pictures but don't have any idea how to use most of the features of our Nikon3100 & mostly shoot on automatic because it's daunting to figure it all out.
